Chapel Hill/Carrboro CROP Hunger Walk to be held on April 23, 2017 starting at the Carrboro Town Commons at 2:30 p.m.
Looking to make a difference in our local community and in communities worldwide, the Chapel Hill/Carrboro CROP Hunger Walk helps to end hunger and poverty through long-term sustainable approaches to significantly reduce or eliminate hunger. A portion of the funds raised stay with the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service to help people in our Chapel Hill and Carrboro communities.

Ron Cromer will show a slide presentation which is coordinated with a discussion of various topics. The topics include the dispelling of common myths associated with snakes, the proper way to hold a snake, pattern identification, an overview of a snake's anatomy and characteristics, and a strong warning concerning the handling of snakes found in the wild. The participants will learn about the characteristics of poisonous snakes, feed an iguana, and experience a snake's awesome ability to swallow a fish or an earthworm.
The "hands-on" session is an opportunity to hold and pet more than a dozen tamed snakes. This session concludes with a finale of a giant python available for holding and petting. A "snake-free" zone will be provided for those who do not feel comfortable participating in the petting session.

Parents and young children (5 & under) can come enjoy some unstructured playtime in the spacious Century Hall. There will be music to dance to, blocks, crawl tunnels, and other toys to play with and plenty of space. It will be a great opportunity to meet new friends and playmates. No registration required.

The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department Drop-In programs allow participants the opportunity to play in an informal setting and to meet others of similar sporting interest. Groups are welcome to attend.

Tanglewood Puppets shows are all original, but firmly rooted in the folkloric and mythic tradition with a huge helping of silliness and fun thrown on top. A class designed to introduce the fundamentals of baseball to the participant and parent. Instructor Pat Currin guides both the child and parent in understanding the skills of throwing, catching, fielding, and hitting.
