UPDATE FROM CARRBORO FIRE-RESCUE (2:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 20) -- The gas leak has been secured, and Cates Farm Road is reopened to traffic.

UPDATE FROM CARRBORO FIRE-RESCUE (10:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 20) -- Cates Farm Road is closed between Pathway Drive and Autumn Drive as crews respond to a gas leak. Traffic is being diverted from Pathway Drive to Cobblestone Drive.

Carrboro Fire-Rescue officials are asking people to avoid the area while repairs are taking place.

The closure is expected to last at least two hours.
