Beginning Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, Town of Carrboro offices will reopen for in-person services and general public access.
The Town continues to follow guidance from Orange County and the state in support of a safe and responsible reopening of in-person services available at Town Hall.
Visitors will be required to wear face coverings/masks if they are not fully vaccinated, and continue to follow safe hygiene practices. For those who are fully vaccinated, a mask is not required. In accordance with CDC recommendations, masks are encouraged for vaccinated people when indoors around those who may not be vaccinated.
Residents will still have the same access to services online and by phone as before.
“Keeping our community and our workforce safe remains our highest priority,” Town Manager David Andrews said.
In late June, the Town provided a $100 vaccine incentive and had 99 people participate in sharing their proofs of vaccinations. At that time with 155 eligible employees, there was a 64% rate of participation, and these numbers are steadily increasing as more employees choose to participate.
Per the Governor’s recommendations, the Town is exploring requiring weekly COVID-19 testing for anyone who is not vaccinated. Town leadership will continue to monitor public health recommendations, evaluate procedures and make changes accordingly.
