Watch Party for All-America CityAward PresentationsThe community is invited to attend a watch party from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, for the All-America City Award livestream at Steel String Brewery, 106 Greensboro St. in Carrboro. Wear your Carrboro T-shirts and show your town pride! National Civic League AAC finalists will be presenting on Saturday, June 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Town of Carrboro will present from 12:45 to 1:05 p.m. Saturday, June 28. Another group of AAC finalists will present from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29. (EST times are noted here.) Winners will be announced on Sunday night. Extreme Heat Warning Forecasted June 24–25, Orange County Cooling Centers ActivatedImportant Information from Orange County
The extreme heat watch for Orange County and surrounding areas has been upgraded to an extreme heat warning through Wednesday, June 25 (heat index values up to 115 expected). Orange County will activate cooling centers at the following locations and times: - Southern Branch Library (203 S. Greensboro St., Carrboro, 27510)
- 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday
- 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday
- RENA Community Center (101 Edgar St., Chapel Hill, 27516)
- 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday
- Orange County Main Library is not a cooling center due to a broken chiller motor.
In addition to these cooling centers, Carrboro will have the following resources available to the community: - Misting Tents (Carrboro Town Commons, 301 W. Main St., Carrboro, 27510)
- Bottled Water Available
- Carrboro Fire Department (301 W. Main St., Carrboro, 27510)

Orange County has compiled a list of resources at orangecountync.gov/heat for people to use during dangerous hot weather events. Heat Safety Reminders - Limit time spent outdoors during peak hours (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and take breaks
- Stay hydrated with water or electrolyte drinks
- Wear light, breathable clothing
- Never leave people or pets in hot cars
- Be alert for symptoms of heat-related illness:
- Mild: headache, heavy sweating, muscle cramps
- Severe: confusion, dizziness, fainting — seek medical attention immediately

Carrboro Community 4th of July CelebrationJoin us from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 4th for a day of fun activities and celebrations. The 12th Annual Community Reading of the Frederick Douglass Essay "The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro" will be held rain or shine and occur at the Carrboro Century Center from 2 to 4 p.m. Come early to get a good seat! Activities begin at 9:30 a.m. at Weaver Street Market, followed by The People’s Parade from Weaver Street to Town Hall at 10:50 a.m. led by the Bulltown Strutters. The event continues at Carrboro Town Commons from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and then concludes at the Century Center for the Community reading at 2 - 4 p.m. Bring non-perishable items to help support PORCH. Donation bins available at Weaver Street Market and Carrboro Town Commons. Activities include: - Live music from Liquid Pleasure featuring Kenny Mann

Public parking available in downtown CarrboroIt’s easy to find free two-hour public parking in Carrboro, where you can access convenient parking at 11 public lots all over town. Please remember that the Carr Mill Mall parking area is for mall customers and is not a public parking lot. Leaving the mall premises after parking risks towing. When in doubt, always park in public lots, and enjoy a hassle-free and relaxed shopping and dining experience.
