Each May for the past 10 years, TrailHeads.org presents trail races on the single-track in Carolina North Forest.
The race pays tribute to former UNC Philosophy professor Horace Williams, who donated nearly 800 acres to UNC after his death. He would ride his horse from Franklin Street to his farm, which he called his “temple of trees.”
In 2017 we extended the 15K course to 10 miles and couple this race with a 7K.
This event promotes awareness of the Forest, UNC’s active management program and will provide the participants and community a chance to learn and connect with the natural environment. Proceeds are donated to Carolina North Forest for trail planning and maintenance.
Novice trail runners welcome!
Donations to CNF total $45,000 to date.
