Hurricane Preparedness

For Emergencies:
Call 911

Drinking Water Information:

It is safe to drink tap water as usual, even if the power is out. However, if the water stops working, OWASA will restore service and notify customers as soon as it’s safe to do so. In case there is a water service disruption (for example, if an uprooted tree damages a pipe affecting water delivery) OWASA urges everyone to have a hurricane preparedness plan in place, which includes storing one gallon of water per person per day, for 3 to 7 days.

YOU WILL NEED:

Residents should prepare their homes with nonperishable food items, fuel, batteries, flashlights, bottled water, candles, matches, emergency radio, pet food, cash, fire extinguisher, and first aid kits. Be sure to check on your neighbors, especially if they are disabled or elderly. Secure outdoor items that could become projectiles in wind. First aid kits and medical supplies are encouraged to have on hand.
