The Carrboro Town Council met virtually Tuesday, Jan. 19, and took the following actions:
- Reports for Stormwater Utility, Fire Department, Police Department and Economic Development: The Council received these monthly reports.
- A Resolution to Define Net Zero for the Town of Carrboro Buildings: The Council adopted a resolution establishing that Net Zero Buildings will be evaluated using greenhouse gas emissions as the accounting metric. Renewable energy can be generated off-site to offset GHG emissions from nonrenewable energy consumption.
- Racial Equity Commission: The Council established a Racial Equity Commission empowered to make short, medium and long-term recommendations that will make significant progress toward repairing the damage caused by public and private systemic racism.
- Energy and Climate Protection Plan and Community Climate Action Plan Implementation Update: The Council received an update on these plans and provided comments on the Green Neighborhoods Grant Program proposal.
