[ARCHIVED] Carrboro This Week for March 28 2022

Carrboro This Week March 28 2022

Open Streets Logo 2022

Open Streets is coming Sunday, April 3!

We are excited for Open Streets 2022! Please mark your calendars and join us for our in-person event from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 3. We will close East and West Weaver Street to vehicles and reopen this public space for recreation!

About Open Streets

The Carrboro Bicycle Coalition started the Carrboro Open Streets Event in 2013. The main purpose of Carrboro Open Streets was to recreate the street and encourage community building through a variety of activities.

The event is held annually in April on Weaver Street. The community is invited to dance, do yoga, ride their bikes, climb a rock wall, make smoothies on a bike blender, and participate in many other activities in a public space that not many ever thought of as a place to partake in recreation.

Given the success of this inaugural event in 2013, the Carrboro Town Council approved the continuation of future Open Streets Events in Carrboro, and it is now an annual event put on by the Carrboro Recreation, Parks & Cultural Resources Department.
