Town of Carrboro government offices will be closed Monday, May 29 in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.
A Memorial Day program with guest speaker Sgt. Maj. Devell “Bo” Durham, the American Legion (AL) National Security Commission Member, Chairman AL Department of North Carolina Internal Affairs Commission, Chairman AL Department of N.C. Mayor Damon Seils will read a proclamation on Monday, May 29, at the 2023 Memorial Day Commemoration for Victims of War, hosted by the Orange County Peace Coalition.
The reading will occur at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Extraordinary Ventures, 200 S. Elliott Road in Chapel Hill.
“I do hereby proclaim May 29, 2023, to be Memorial Day in Carrboro as a day to remember those who lost their lives be Memorial Day in Carrboro as a day to remember those who lost their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces and to the victims of war around the world,” Mayor Seils said.
“Moreover, I encourage all residents to affirm and celebrate our community’s commitment to nonviolent, peaceful solutions to conflict.”
