CARRBORO, N.C. -- High humidity and temperatures in the mid-90s will push the heat index over 100 for several hours across most of central North Carolina this afternoon.
As Orange County is under a Heat Advisory from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on July 2, the county has compiled a list of resources available for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or needing a shelter from extreme heat including public restrooms, cooling off areas, and more.

Severe storms producing damaging winds, large hail, and frequent deadly lightning are possible today across all of central NC, mainly very late afternoon through the evening.
