The Carrboro distribution site at Mcdougle Elementary is out of water as of Noon Saturday (2/4) and more water is being sent to this location. Residents can also go to Carrboro High School to receive bottled water.
Representatives from Social Services and the Red Cross are working diligently to deliver water to those locations among communities who cannot get out to get water. There are also interpreters for different languages to deliver information to the non-English speaking population and attempts to have at least one Spanish speaking interpreter at all of the water distribution sites.
It is estimated that the water distribution sites will close around dark (6:00PM) for safety reasons and reopen tomorrow. There is a steady supply of bottled water being delivered to the county for distribution and it’s reported that 33 pallets of water every hour are being distributed. OWASA is advising that the last tests results are expected back around 1:45PM. There will be another press conference held from Emergency Services at 3:00PM.
OWASA customers are still prohibited from using water.
Visit http://www.orangecountync.gov/residents/owasa_information.php for the locations and updates. You can also text "OWASAWATER" to 888777 to receive text updates.
Until further notice, please do not use the water to drink or for any other use. More information will be available later today.
