The Town of Carrboro adopted its first Comprehensive Bicycle Transportation Plan in 2009. After receiving a grant from the NC Department of Transportation, the Town updated the plan to focus on increasing ridership, enhancing connectivity, generating positive economic impact, protecting the environment, advancing equity, enhancing health, and increasing safety and livability through specific network and infrastructure recommendations. The Updated Bike Plan (2021) was developed by Alta Planning and Design, Inc, with assistance from Town Staff, and adopted by Carrboro Town Council in January 2021.
